What a year! This class has been a tremendous break from the mundanity of others, frequently offering me a space to write about relevant happenings. The projects, too, have been a tremendous boon for creativity. I wish I had something enlightening to say here, some that’d neatly tie everything into a bow and convey some grand realization. That won’t be this. The “me” that started this class and the “me” that’s writing this aren’t separated by a stretch of abstraction. I’m largely the same person I was then. I won’t try, then, to make my experiences seem deeper than they are. What this class really did, and is why I’m turning this project in earlier than the deadline, is refocus my work ethic. Completing all three sub-projects during reading week has been an interesting challenge. Many, many days I’ve woken up and not felt like doing much of anything, but looming over me was the responsibility of this final portfolio. I made it, though, brain still relatively intact. My vision has been realized, I’d say. The changes I’d outlined in the previous weeks’ documents were doable, so I did them—nothing more to it. I’d specified that the intent was to set attainable goals, and that seriously aided in me not hating the work. The video project I finished out without hassle. My initial goal was to realize the ending that I’d envisioned in my head, something grand and thought-provoking; I feel as if I’ve done that. The audio project, though lacking in the amount of interviews I wanted to record, is still a perfectly listenable piece of media. It had to, in order to ensure the video project was the best it could possibly be, take a back seat. For the image project, everything there went smoothly. I established the top domain, copied and recolored the design of the subdomain (as outlined), and created all necessary pages and hyperlinks.
